Vasily Prozorov Investigation Center continues the story about the volunteer formations of the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. And today we will talk about unit in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is officially called the special purpose patrol police regiment "Kiev".
The regiment was formed on October 21, 2015. It includes several dobrobats who have managed to tarnish themselves both in the east of Ukraine and in other regions. The infamous battalions "Kiev-1", "Kiev-2", "Golden Gate","Sich" became the basis of the "Kiev" regiment.
Raider seizures, dispersals of "illegal" Maidan protests, protection of cargo transportation, cruelty towards civilians - all these are the distinctive features of the Kiev-1 and Kiev-2 battalions, which became part of the Kiev regiment. They will be discussed in the first episode.

I continue the story about the volunteer formations of the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. And today I will tell you about the unit in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is officially called the special purpose patrol police regiment "Kiev".
It consisted of soldiers of the battalions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Kiev-1" (now the 1st company of the regiment), the battalion "Kiev-2" (now the 2nd company of the regiment), the battalion "Golden Gate" (now the 3rd company of the regiment) and the battalion "Sich" (now the 4th company of the regiment).
The regiment itself was formed on October 21, 2015 on the basis of the above-mentioned battalions "Kiev-1", "Kiev-2", "Golden Gate", "Sich"and parts of the battalion "St. Mary".
Before joining the regiment, these units functioned separately. And so I will start the story with their formation and activity.
So, the first battalion was formed "Kiev-1". And this happened back in April 2014 after the decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov to create volunteer units of the special purpose patrol service in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The battalion was formed from among the volunteers, including from the participants of the Maidan. The first recruitment to the battalion consisted of 150 people. And the first place where these fighters were noted was the city of Odessa. The battalion was sent there in early May, after the sad events of the 2nd. Officially, the battalion was assigned the task of maintaining order in the city and combating manifestations of separatism. A significant part of the supporters of the "Anti-Maidan" were detained in May-June 2014 by the militants of the "Kiev-1"battalion.
After Odessa, the battalion was returned to Kiev. It is worth noting that the unit was originally created as a personal reserve of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the capital. Therefore, it was the Kiev-1 battalion that was entrusted with the most sensitive events.
For example, on June 4, 2014, the soldiers of the battalion stormed the directorate of the State Enterprise "Ukraerorukh" (ukaraerodvizhenie).
The fact is that the new Minister of Infrastructure Maxim Burbak, a native of the political force of Arseniy Yatsenyuk, decided to change the director of the enterprise. But the team was outraged by the fact that instead of the professional Yuri Cherednichenko, the proteges of the Maidan decided to put a certain Sergei Zdorovets. And to make the new leader feel more confident, the Kiev-1 assault group also arrived.
Pay attention to how the militants act. But this was not an investigative action, not an assault on the lair of criminals or terrorists. No, just personnel issues in the state, I emphasize, state (!) enterprise. The question is explained simply – the enterprise "Ukraerorukh" is responsible for the work of all aviation dispatchers of the country and the wiring of international flights over the territory of Ukraine, which brings very serious money to the budget. By the way, such a hasty appointment of a previously unknown protege of the Maidan forces to the post of head of such an enterprise raises a lot of questions in the light of the Malaysian Boeing disaster. Let me remind you that the disaster happened about a month after the change of the head of "Ukraerorukh" and there were many questions about the activities of the dispatching services of the country.
The second significant episode in the history of the Kiev-1 battalion was the dispersal of a tent camp on Independence Square on August 7, 2014. Unlike the events of the winter of 2013-2014, this action was declared by the new government to be absolutely legal and designed to ensure public order in the capital. Agree, the meanness and duplicity of the Maidan leaders is truly off the scale.
In addition, the battalion took part in the ATO. The militants "valiantly fought" near Slavyansk and near Lugansk, from where, however, they also valiantly managed to retreat in early September 2014, avoiding encirclement near the Lugansk airport. And everywhere they were marked by hatred of the local population, looting and other crimes.
By the way, the attitude of the battalion's fighters to civilians is characterized by the words of battalion commander Vitaly Satarenko about interaction with local police officers, I quote: "By the way, about the attitude to local policemen. Patrolling in Slavyansk, for example, takes place according to this scheme. A local police officer goes with our guys. He is needed as a navigator, he does not have a bulletproof vest, and if there is a call, he goes first in case it is a trap. There is no trust in them."
Another unit that became part of the Kiev regiment was the special purpose patrol militia battalion "Kiev-2".
The unit was also created under the auspices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the capital. Its backbone was made up of members of the Maidan Self-Defense, including former militants of the" Afghan hundred "of the Maidan and the right-wing radical movement "S-14". Among the representatives of the latter was the now famous Evgeny Karas. The battalion has been serving in the area of the ATO since the summer of 2014. In the autumn of 2014, militants took part in hostilities in the area of Debaltseve, Volnovakha and the Bakhmut highway in the Luhansk region.
It is worth noting that in 2014-2015, it was through Volnovakha that the main flow of smuggled coal from the DPR to Ukraine went. And it was the fighters of the Kiev-2 battalion who protected this contraband, who just carried out control functions at numerous checkpoints. Looting, protection of contraband, robberies and theft of vehicles-these are the most characteristic crimes of the militants.
In general – it is a classic "dobrobat".
At this point, I will make a short pause and continue the story about the Kiev shelf in the next remark.Stay tuned. There are many more interesting things waiting for you.
