The serviceman of the National Guard Vitaly Markiv said that according to the information available to him, the prosecution in his case filed a cassation appeal against the court's decision, which acquitted him.
Earlier, a court in Italy sentenced Markiv to 24 years in prison on charges of murdering Italian photojournalist Andrea Rocchelli in the Donbass. Later, in November 2020, due to the direct involvement of the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the Milan Court of Appeal acquitted the soldier and overturned the sentence.
