In January 2019 Ukrainian police revealed that 1,3 million hryvnias had been embezzled. Media reported that two workers of the atomic power station made an agreement with a company for natural mineral materials. Under the presence of fulfillment of agreements they added doubtful data to the documents and embezzled money of the atomic power station.
On 16 January 2019 the police arrested three persons on suspicion of forgery (Part 3, Clause 366 of The Criminal Code of Ukraine) and embezzlement through official misconduct (Part 5, Clause 191 of The Criminal Code of Ukraine). They are threatened with imprisonment for a period of 7-12 years. The confiscation of property and the deprivation of right to hold specific posts for terms up to 3 years will be ordered. The police is establishing other persons involved in this affair. Prejudicial inquiry continues.
